Teens Fall Classes

The Arts Center offers a variety of hands-on creative art classes and workshops for Teens age 13+. Some Adult classes and workshops are available for serious Teens age 16+.

Music

The Arts Center offers music lessons in guitar, violin, viola, cello and bass. Private music lessons are available for adults & children and group music lessons are offered to children.

Beginning Guitar for Children - Tico Manley

A great way to try the guitar, no musical experience necessary. Learn to read music, play by ear and music theory. This fun introductory course will get you playing in no time. A limited number of guitars are available for use (during class only) please call ahead to reserve a guitar 864-784-9232.

Beginning Piano with Simply Music - Elaine Fredendall

Learn to play piano in a small group setting where we focus on the sheer fun of expressing yourself through music. Painting and Drawing

Contemporary Painting - Jen Hutchinson

Students will explore various ways of painting used by contemporary artists such as Chuck Close, Andy Warhol and Frank Stella. Some strategies to be discovered are shaped canvases, collage and portraiture using a grid.

Realistic Drawing - Cynthia Jones

This class is for beginning and returning students wishing to improve their drawing skills. We will cover basic drawing skills working from photographs of the students choosing. Returning students will continue working where they left off in the last class. Art show will be held during last class.

Writing on the Wall; a Personal Symbol Story - Deb Massa

Learn about installation art and how to collaborate with other artists while you explore study and create your personally relevant symbols and incorporate them into a unique form of self-expression. Students will make a sketchbook of drawings and then work together to generate a series of cave paintings that tells an autobiographical story.
