Summer Program

Please open and print the two-page Registration Form and use the schedule below to choose your camp programs.

IMPORTANT registration information:
Registration is on a first-come first-serve basis. Full Tuition must be paid and registration and safety forms must be complete at the time of registration to reserve your place in class. Spaces will not be held without payment. Your registration is your confirmation unless we contact you, please arrive on your class start date and time. Registration will be accepted after a course has begun if space is available, but cannot be prorated. Refunds (minus a $15 processing fee) for class withdrawals will take place no later than one week before the class bagins. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN PAST THAT DATE. NO REFUND IS GIVEN ONCE ART CAMP BEGINS.

WEEK 1: June 23 - June 27
9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Clay Creations (Cynthia Jones)
Learn hand-building, pinch, soil, and slab techniques. Each student will pick up their colorful ceramic masterpieces after kiln firing the following week. (Age 6-9)

 

Alphabet Drum Dance (Baerta Graff)
A combination of dance, music, voice and artistic costume. Nature forms, rhythm, and art design elements are emphasized. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing during class time, and bring musical instruments, i.e., drums, chimes and flutes. A student performance will follow. (Age 6 and up)

 

Wearable Treasures (Laura Dahl)
Fashion clay, metal, paper and beads into trasures to wear and add to your backpack. We'll also make cool hangings and magnetic sculptures to decorate your room. (Age 10+)

Paper Collage (AnnDouglas Pinckney)
We will explore the paper collage, stamp printing, texture, color and repetition of Eric Carle. Students will complete painted paper collage masterpieces! (Age 6-9)

 

Painting Monet's Garden (Hayden Childers) -
Create a painting that belongs in a museum! Students will mix their own colors and learn a fun, new way to paint on canvas. Bring a smock to stand at an easel and make a beautiful landscape just like Monet's colorful paintings. (Age 8+)

 

Design It Yourself! (Terri Earl Brooks) -
Come join in the fun of designing your own set of bright and colorful greeting cards, treasure box and portfolio art tote. Designs will be created using a variety of inks, paints, and printmaking techniques. (Age 10+)

 

WEEK 2: July 7- July 11
9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Miniature Marvels (Laura Dahl) -
Fashion clay, metal, paper and beads into treasures to wear and add to your backpack. We'll also make cool hangings and magnetic sculptures to decorate your room. (Age 6-9)

 

Building with Clay (Cynthia Jones) -
Learn hand-building, pinch, soil, and slab techniques in clay. Each student will pick up their colorful ceramic masterpieces after kiln firing the following week. (Age 8-10)

 

Introductory Photography (Del Kimbler) -
Learn the basics of photography, how to use digital camera, and things to do with your photos. Digital cameras will be provided and no experience is necessary. (Age 11+)

Kids on Canvas (Deana Baker)
A unique art program that teaches students about painting on a variety of canvas surfaces. Canvas board, canvas paper and stretched canvas will be used to explore master artists such as Van Gogh, Mondrian, and Picasso. Please wear old clothes as we will be using acrylic paints. (Age 6-9)

 

Creative Drawing (Claudia Dishon)
This class will focus on learning to draw realistically and creatively. Several fun exercises will help you to acquire skills to make great pieces of art. Using masterpieces as examples, students will see what really makes amazing art and discover their own unique style! (Age 8-10)

 

Scrap Wood Sculpture (AnnDouglas Pickney)
Students will see that there are many shapes and objects that can be created from other shapes and objects. Each student will create a sculpture using bits and pieces of scrap wood and other found objects. We'll use hammers and screwdrivers, paint and glue to create amazing works of art! (Age 10+)

 

WEEK 3: July 14- July 18

Art by You! (Terri Earl Brooks)
Come join in the fun of designing your own set of bright and colorful greeting cards, treasure box and portfolio art tote. Designs will be created using a variety of inks, paints, and printmaking techniques. (Age 6-8)

 

Sculpting Space (Jeanine Garrett)
Learn sculpture and carving techniques with a hammer and chisel. Make dynamic three dimensional artwork using a variety of moldable and carvable materials. (Age 9+)

 

Acrylic Painting (Deana Baker)
A unique art program that teaches students about painting on a variety of canvas surfaces. Canvas board, canvas paper and stretched canvas will be used to explore master artists such as Van Gogh, Mondrian, and Picasso. Please wear old clothes as we will be using acrylic paints. (Age 10+)

Nature Printed Pottery (Cindy Earl Higgins)
We will be working with a rich terra cotta clay in slab and coil construction. To add texture and decorate the surfaces, we will use leaves and other things from nature. (Age 6-9)

Learn hand-building, pinch, coil, and slab techniques in clay. Each student will pick up their colorful ceramic masterpieces after kiln firing the following week. (Age 10+)

 

WEEK 4: July 21- July 25
9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Creating Comics (Jackson Zorn)
In this class we will study the art of dynamic story telling and drawing in comics such as Batman, Spawn, Wonder Woman, and Spider-Man. We'll create our own characters and stories, ending up with a finished comic of the hero's strengths, weaknesses, and arch rival! It's a bird, It's a plane, no it's… all up to you! (Age 7-9)

 

Yarn and Fiber Treasures (Laura Dahl)
Choose your favorite color combinations to make bags, beads, jewelry and toys from colorful yarns and wool.Students will learn to felt, weave and braid. And how to turn their work into finished projects. (Age 10+)

As we take a look into the work of Norval Morrisseau, students will explore energy and emotion and paint using the X-Ray technique! You'll see the energy within each figure through the use of symbols, color and lines! (Age 6-9)
