Act II - Photography
of Del Kimbler
April 28 through May 29
a lifetime in photography (so far)
Del
Kimbler has been, roughly in sequence, a student, a photographer, a
soldier, a NASA technician, a student again, and an engineer/educator.
Photography has been a common theme to all of these, at least on a casual
basis, but he never forgot the fundamentals he learned with a simple
camera and black and white film.
With
the development of digital photography, his interest in photography
was rekindled, with a fine art focus. He began rediscovering old skills
and developing new ideas, leading to several works exhibited in Greenville,
Columbia, and Clemson, as well as in two international shows (Kortrijk,
Belgium and upcoming in Tianjin, China).
As
he nears the end of his educator career, he is devoting more time to
photography and things related, and has become a familiar face among
the Arts Center volunteers, as well as around the City of Clemson. This
exhibit presents a sample from his life's work in photography, a collection
spanning over 40 years, touching four continents, and comprised primarily
of social landscape - photography of works and aspects of man and society
expressing the photographer's personal vision. While sub-themes exist
in this exhibit, its primary purpose is to span the limits of his past
and present work.
